Normally, at this time of year in Toronto, the weather is just below freezing. The snow starts to accumulate, and turn black from the fumes of all the cars.
Not this year. We’ve barely had any snow, which has quickly melted.
Right now, it’s almost 50f outside, with rain and lightning. It almost feels like a summer thunderstorm.
Speaking of the summer, last summer left Toronto covered in wildfire smoke. Yet another consequence of climate change.
Despite the clear path of destruction we’re on, fossil fuels continue to be extracted at near record levels. Political discourse on the subject often goes straight to the pocket book. Fixing the fossil fuel crisis, it seems, is too expensive for many people.
Just last night, we told our daughter there aren’t simple solutions to many of these difficult problems.
But there are solutions. There have to be. For my kids. For all of our kids.
All of which is to say, the below list is very important to me. It’s a list of publications that actively publish stories about climate change.
